Windows offers the possibility to install cleanly, without having to use old installations that could contain errors or corrupted DLLs. In this article, we will analyze all the past steps to be able to perform a clean installation of Windows 10. When do you think you need to install a clean version of Windows? Certainly when the PC starts to slow down or, worse hypothesis, get stalled.
The final solution is to install Windows without having to use the thousands of software to repair the registry, any corrupted or missing DLLs, incomplete installations, etc…
Among the many ways to install Windows 10 “from scratch”, this article will focus on a rather efficient tool: Windows Refresh
The objectives of Windows Refresh are :
- Speed up your PC.
- Delete unnecessary software.
- Clean the computer thoroughly to optimize its operation.
Windows 10 Clean Installation: The Preliminary Phase
When we choose to use the tool, Refresh Windows, we must remember that all applications (native and not) on our PC will be deleted.
Since the tool is not integrated into Windows 10, licenses and digital rights to the various software and/or applications may be voided. In this case, make sure you can re-install the codes once we have completed the clean installation of Windows 10.
Native apps will also be deleted. Also, in this case, it is necessary to be aware of what we are about to “lose” at the expense of lightness and performance.
Refresh Windows: Where is it located?
Open the SETTINGS panel and select the UPDATES AND SECURITY tab; once we are in the above tab click on REPAIR.
Scrolling the fake page to the end, we select the other recovery options, until the entry “Find out how to perform a clean Windows installation“.
Once you click on this option, you will be directed to Microsoft’s support page. Scroll down and download the tool. The program will be downloaded automatically (no further pages will open). Refresh Windows is currently only available in English, Japanese and Chinese.
At this point we could decide to:
- Delete Windows 10 partially, keeping your personal files.
- Delete the contents of your PC completely.
We always recommend a backup before performing any operation, either partial or full delete.
The tool automatically, once you have made your choice, will do its job without our intervention. We wait for the end of the process after which we will have a clean copy of Windows 10. We will now search for updates for patches and hardware drivers.
Why use Refresh Windows?
Refresh Windows is a good alternative to the clean installation via ISO, which for many is more complex and requires more manual work than the tool mentioned above.
