For Internet Explorer 8 enthusiasts – Internet Explorer, hard to die
Windows 10 has definitely changed the concept of Browser, with the arrival of Microsoft Edge. Many professionals have had to adapt to the arrival of the new software, trying to make it work, at best, web pages and intranet platforms. Which in the past worked only with Internet Explorer.
Remedies to Navigation Problems
Fortunately, Microsoft has thought of adding Internet Explorer 11 to Windows 10’s Browser Edge, hiding it in the folder C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer. Many portals only work properly if you use older versions of your browser, such as Internet Explorer 8, which are no longer installable on Windows 10.
In these cases, a powerful tool can come to our rescue, allowing us to emulate Internet Explorer 8 on Windows 10 and make the most outdated platforms work, still used by companies, offices, and professionals.
Emulation of Internet Explorer 8 on Windows 10
Use Internet Explorer 8 on Windows 10 and emulate older versions of your browser:
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Access the incriminated web page.
- Press the F12 button.
- Select the “Emulation” tab.
- Choose from the “Document mode” or “User agent string” dropdown menu the version of Internet Explorer we want to emulate (from 6.0 onwards).
- Navigate in an emulated mode without closing the development tools window.
- The emulation will allow the portal to function and will be operational as long as the development tool is open.
Explorer emulation even with Edge
The emulation tool is of course also available for the Edge consumer browser and can be called up in exactly the same mode by pressing the F12 key. Many of you will be able to try to set under “String user agent” the version of Internet Explorer that we would like to emulate. If the platform to be used requires particular settings in the security and browser policy area, such as Active X controls, Java scripts or similar, it will be necessary to let go and focus everything on direct emulation with Internet Explorer.
If you just don’t like Edge you have other alternatives.
